f o r e v e r

a diamond is f o r e v e r
ad campaign

why i love this ad. let me tell you. it was created in 1948, this ad has lasted f o r e v e r. it says something about a campaign that has transcended more than 50 years. This ad is simplistic yet bold and symbolizes a future. The black background only intensifies and enhances the boldness of the ring. This ad allows you to look at this bright, sparkling, beautiful ring and allow you to fantasize as if it's your own, pondering what your own life would look like with that ring on your finger. This ad gives the illusion of happiness and the feeling of hope for the future. I think this is an ad that will truly out-stand time.

I am Mallory Lenae.

1. What are your values?

Empathy, kindness, flexibility and improvement. Empathy can make this world a better place. Don't just sympathize, allow yourself to dig deeper than that. Kindness is key. Improvement is a value shown through my ability to take constructive criticism and apply it to my life. This allows me to be open and transparent with others.

2. What do you love?

I love people. I love being outside, the smell and s o u n d of rain. I love the spring when all things are blooming, fresh and new. I love learning about different cultures. I love when people smile, laugh and are spontaneous. I love it when people are in a good mood. I love it when a stranger smiles at you. I love music and dancing to it, whether it be with friends or by myself in my room. I love Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross. I love summer, fall, winter and spring. I love my family and all they have done for me. I love running on the grass on an unbeaten path. I love the little things in life, the ironic things, that make you smile.

3. What do you hate?

I hate it when people take life too seriously and don't take time to relax. I hate it when people make fun of someone they don't know. I hate that we live in an imperfect world, that there is murder, cancer and slander. I hate that we can't all get a long. I hate pride and how it gets in the way of true, deep relationships. I hate sin.

4. What are you insanely great at doing?

I'm insanely good at living life in the now. Not the past or the future but having true unadulterated love for the present.

5. What are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of my ability to take a bad situation and make it a positive experience. I'd like to think that I'm a truly positive person. Not overly positive or fake but a person who can genuinely can see the hope that comes with all situations.

6. What do you want to be?

I want to be the best possible version of me. I want to be able to take everything that I was given and all that I was created to be to the next level. I want to be a person that is relatable and personable and someone who people want to be around. I want to be a person who doesn't settle for less than I know I can but also is accepting of correction and is moldable. Constantly improving.

7. What is important and valuable to you?

Relationships are most important to me. It is important to me to recognize and cherish the little things in life.

8. What do you want to be known for?

A person who puts others first. I want to be known as a woman who made an impact on those around her. I hope that when people think of me that they can know that I genuinely love and care about them.

'To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, to make you somebody else means to fight, fight the hardest battle you'll ever fight; and never stop fighting.' E.E Cummings

a simple introduction

So, I've written in my blog a few times so I guess it would be fitting to give you-whoever you may be- a little bit more information about myself. :) My name is Mallory Lenae and I'm a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am a sophomore studying Advertising and Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Public Relations. I am hoping to be able to work with people for the rest of my life. I want to help. Make a difference.
With that, let me tell you some of the things I enjoy in this life of ours! I absolutely loove the outdoors. I think that we were blessed with an exquisite palate of flowers, trees, smells and sights around us that we constantly take for granted. I like literally to.. stop. and smell the flowers. :) I also love cooking. I think that there are so many flavors and textures that we can create with only a few ingredients, isn't that crazy!? I think that it's a great time to spend
with people and also an opportunity to be creative:) Speaking of being creative, I love taking pictures. But I don't know if I would say I'm a pro or anything close. It's just something I enjoy and am continuing to become better. Also, I love to do anything active and outdoors whether it be walking, biking, running, roller blading, kayaking or camping! You name it, I'll be there. My family is extremely important to me and I have two beautiful sisters, a brother-in-law and my amazing parents. They have encouraged me so much through the years. Here are some pictures I've taken of the things I love.

What do I want to do you might ask!? Well. I love to travel, so I'd be ok
ay with packing up my things and heading out if that is what the Lord has planned for me. I really don't know exactly what I want to do yet. But if it could encompass all the things that I love about life. That would be extraordinary. There is a verse that I love about the future, because it rings so true and clear in my life. Proverbs 19:21 'Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.' Really, this life isn't about me. So I'm willing to go where the Lord leads, hopefully I will be wise enough to see that opportunity when it is presented in front of me. Proverbs 16:9 'The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.'

The Girl Effect

"All girls are valuable.
It's no big deal.
It's just the future of humanity."

Check out this video made by The Girl Effect. Tell me what you think.

so beautiful.

It's absolutely gorgeous outside lately. I can't help but to want to grab my bike, my roller blades or even a friend for a journey outside. This is what I love about the outdoors, you notice things you wouldn't usually. Most of the time I hop in my car and head from point A to point B. Modern technology and the car has robbed us of our connection to the Earth.
I spent the other day volunteering for the Big Event on campus. My group spent the morning picking up trash by a local high school. I don't think I've ever picked up so many cigarette butts in my life! It was so astonishing how much trash cluttered grass. Even the bike trails are invaded by plastic strangers. It makes me shudder how much we as humans think we own the Earth. That it is our own personal trash can. Most people don't think twice about throwing that piece of trash out of the car window or to simply toss your piece of gum aside on the pavement, but that reality is that we are trashing so much beauty around us! With all that said, it just makes me sad. BUT Spring is in full bloom and there's even a small storm happening as we speak. Hoping that some April showers will bring some May flowers! :)

So with all that said I encourage YOU to take a moment today to sit outside, to take a walk or to simply stop to smell a flower.

with lots of love,
mallorylenae
